How to Remove Unwanted Extension from Your Google Chrome--Tips and Tricks

You may have installed an extension on your Google Chrome and you want to remove it. Read on this post to learn how to uninstall unwanted extension from your Google Chrome.

Extensions in Google Chrome store are clean and can help you enhance your Web browsing experience, but you may come across problem or error message on your chrome, you can try to remove the extension to troubleshoot the error. It's quite simple to remove an extension from Chrome browser.

Steps-by-steps to remove extension from your Google Chrome:

Step1, Launch your Google Chrome browser; click on the Wrench button Imageon the top right corner of the window.

Step2, Select Tools and from the list of the menu options and then click on "Extensions" from the within "Tools" menu.

Step3, A new tab will open to display all the Add-ons and Extensions. Just by clicking on the trash-can button behind the Extension which you need to remove, the extension file and all stored data associated with the add-on or will be completely deleted.

You may get malicious extension installed on your Google Chrome. This most happens when you download free programs and the malicious extension installed together with the free program, and you can not remove it simply from the extension tab. You may need go the Control panel and uninstall the extension from your computer with following two steps and then perform above three steps to completely remove the unwanted extension.


1) Locate and open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button, clicking on Control panel--and then click "Uninstall a program" under "Programs" in you are under Control Panel View. If you are in Classic View, click on "Programs and Features".

2) Select a program to uninstall by clicking on it and then click "Uninstall" or "Uninstall/Change" depending on the program. You may need to enter your administrator password to continue your operating. After you press the Uninstall button, all program related file will be removed from your computer. Please pay attention that there are always more than one item related with the toolbar that need to be removed from the program list, such as Babylon search, Babylon Toolbar, etc.

Step3, Under the Search option, click on Manage search engines...

Step4, In the Search engines page, make Google or Yahoo as the default search engine and remove the malicious search engines by clicking on the X button behind the search engine. If you find no Google or Yahoo search engines in the list, please add a new search engines at the bottom of the page and then click on to save your modification.
